Tanzania celebrates Russian Language Day and Russia Day

22.06.2022

On June 19, with a slight delay, students and teachers celebrated two important holidays at the Russian Center of the University of Dodoma - the Day of the Russian Language, celebrated on June 6 (the birthday of Alexander Pushkin,) and the Day of Russia, the date of which is June 12 .

In the first part of the event, students learned about the traditions of celebrating the Day of Russia, the history of this holiday, and discussed the current political situation in the world.

In the second part, students were offered an online quest to get acquainted with the life and work of Pushkin. The children were asked to find answers to questions about the life of the outstanding poet on the Internet.

After discussing the fact they found, the students moved on to the poet's work, studying the poem "I loved you" as an example. After linguistic and cultural analysis of the text, the participants of the meeting held a competition for the best riciting of the poem, and then tried to translate it into Swahili.

At the end of the meeting, and according to the Tanzanian tradition, students and teachers ate a cake - for the health of Pushkin.
