Young violinists from Slovenia and Argentina became the winners of the international violin competition in Omsk, TASS reports. The competition is named after Yuri Yankelevich, a famous musician who spent his childhood in Omsk. Among his students was the legendary musician Vladimir Spivakov. It is he who helped organize the creative competition.

The competition was held for the 5th time online. Before that, due to restrictions aimed at countering the spread of coronavirus infection, the competition was suspended for two years. The first time the competition was held in 2009, it was timed to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Yankelevich.

The Governor of the Omsk Region Alexander Burkov hopes that the competition will continue. The next time young violinists will be invited to Omsk in 2024.

The head of the region added that young talents from all over the world are joining the competition. Politicians can divide people, but music and creativity are aimed at uniting them, the governor believes.
