72% of Serbian residents who took part in a survey by the Belgrade agency Crta believe that Russia was forced to launch the special operation against Ukraine to stop NATO expansion to the country's borders. 1,000 adult residents of Serbia took part in the survey, the Balkanist website reports.

The study showed that the people of Serbia are closely watching the course of the special operation  - this was stated by more than 80% of the respondents. Two-thirds of the poll participants called Washington and NATO the culprits for the start of the military operation in Ukraine.

54% of respondents said that during the military operation, Russia seeks to stop the genocide of Russians in the Donbass. More than half of the respondents supported the actions of the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, to maintain the neutral status of Serbia in the events in Ukraine.

It is noted that only 9% of the survey participants opposed the Russian special operation and supported the imposition of sanctions against Moscow.
