Flowers laid at the monument to writer Chingiz Aitmatov in Ankara

An event in honor of the anniversary of the outstanding Kyrgyz and Russian writer Chingiz Aitmatov was held in Ankara. Its participants laid flowers to his monument and paid tribute to the contribution of the writer to the development of world literature, Vecherniy Bishkek reports.

The event was attended by employees of the embassies in Turkey, representatives of local authorities, journalists, compatriots. The speakers noted the relevance of Aitmatov's works, which have retained wide popularity to this day.

The monument to Chingiz Aitmatov was inaugurated in Ankara two years ago. The 90th birthday of the writer, who passed away in 2008, was widely celebrated in 2018 in Russia, as well as in other countries.
