1st online festival of Russian cinema kicks off in South Korea

The first online festival of Russian cinema for South Korean viewers opened on December 9. It is going to last five days. The festival is organized by the Union of Cinematographers of Russia and the Busan Foundation for International Cooperation, the festival website reports.

The ''Nerka. The fish is Red'' documentary opened the screening. It tells about the wild salmon of the south of Kamchatka. The program also included features dedicated to famous Russians, the topic of heroism, overcoming oneself and circumstances, interethnic communication.

The program included the "White Snow" feature, based on the biography of the legendary Russian skier Elena Vyalbe. "When the Snow Melts" tells the story of a reindeer herder and a woman from  Rome. The program will end with the ''From Sorrow to Joy'' drama about young love that parents are trying to destroy. All films were shot in the past or current years. They will be screened on the festival website.

Russian Consul General in Busan Gennady Ryabkov called the festival an important step in strengthening cultural cooperation between the two countries.
