The Society for Friendship with Tanzania was created in Russia, TASS reports. Several businessmen and public figures have come up with this initiative. The Society will promote environmental and humanitarian projects at the international level.

According to a member of the Russian Geographical Society, Yuri Korobov, who headed the new association, the activity will be aimed at strengthening relations between Russia and Tanzania by developing "people's diplomacy." The main direction will be the acquaintance of the peoples of the two countries with the history, culture and traditions of each other. In addition, it is planned to expand ties with compatriots living in Tanzania. The promotion of the Russian language in Africa is no less important.

At the first stage, Yuri Korobov noted, the focus will be on ecology. In this African country, there are acute problems of illegal logging and abandoned mines, where emissions of harmful substances come from. Russia plans to help Tanzania train specialists in this area. In the future, a business council will begin to work, which will include businessmen and representatives of the public, a Club of Russian businessmen living in Tanzania will appear. Also in the plans is the organization of an economic forum.
