The youth team of Russia for the 9th time proved that it is the strongest team in Europe. In the final of the next championship, which took place in the Czech Republic, the Russians beat the Italians. The tournament was attended by volleyball players no older than 20 years old, TASS reports.

Russian athletes opened the meeting with a victory in the first set, but in the second set, the opponents were able to level the score. The third and fourth games turned out to be long and persistent, the Russians managed to snatch victories in the endings with a score of 26:24 and 27:25. The Belarusian volleyball players claimed the bronze medals, but in the match for the third place they lost to the Belgians.

The ninth victory at the European Championship made the Russian team the record holder for the number of gold medals at the European youth championships. The national team of the Soviet Union took away gold medals from youth championships eleven times.
