Exhibitions of Russian artists to be held in Greece

29.07.2020

Exhibitions of Russian artists are going to be held both in Russia and Greece within the Cross Year of Culture of the two countries. They will become part of the open-air Odyssey for Penelope exhibition project, the show's curator Tatyana Babushkina said.

The project participants include a group of artists from the section of monumental and decorative art of the Moscow Union of Artists. Over the years of the project's existence, exhibitions of its participants have repeatedly been held in various halls of Moscow, Athens and other cities.

The Hydra Island - the Island of Poets and Artists exposition, which took place within the framework of the project, was marked with special gratitude from the Consul General of Greece in Russia Nicholas Krikos. He expressed a desire to hold an exhibition of the same name in Greece in 2021 with the support of the municipality of the Hydra island.

The project participants were invited by the municipality of Kalamata to hold an exhibition next summer, timed to coincide with the 200th anniversary of the Greek national liberation revolution. Exhibitions in Russia are also planned - in the next two years they should open in Moscow, the cities of the Moscow region and Petrozavodsk.

The Odyssey for Penelope project is being implemented with the assistance of UNESCO, the Department of State Support for Arts and Folk Art of the Ministry of Culture of Russia, and the Moscow Greek Cultural Center.
