The memory of Soviet pilots was honored by the Consul General of Russia in Edinburgh Andrei Yakovlev. He laid flowers at a memorial stone erected near the Fearnan Village on Loch Tay Lake in Scotland. The stone was laid down in memory of the Soviet crew, which took the falling plane from the village and saved many lives.

During the days of the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory, a memorial plaque was installed in Russia, perpetuating the name of the Soviet pilot, veteran of the Great Patriotic War, Peter Kolesnikov, who served as part of the Moscow Special Purpose Air Group. The group was based at the Errol air base in Scotland. The Scots, in their turn, plan to erect a monument to Soviet soldiers this autumn.

A memorial plaque was opened in the Mitrofanovka village, Voronezh Region, were the hero was born. It was installed on the wall of a rural school, where Peter Kolesnikov studied. Many years after his death, the hero’s granddaughter Anna Belorusova published the book entitled Special Purpose Pilots, which reveals new details of the operations of the Moscow Special Purpose Air Group.
