Russian hockey players lost gold at World Junior Championship, TASS reports. In the final, they lost with a score of 3: 4 to the Canadian team. The final match of the tournament, which was attended by athletes no older than 20 years old, took place on the eve of January 5 in Ostrava (Czech Republic).

Experts call this defeat the bitterest in the history of Russian hockey. During the championship, the national team demonstrated a spectacular productive game and acted the same way in the final. Unfortunately, Russian athletes were not able to maintain the advantage ten minutes before the end of the match.

According to the President of the Russian Ice Hockey Federation (RIHF) Vladislav Tretiak, an important result of the championship was the birth of a distinctive game style for the team. The Russian hockey players played at good speeds in aggressive, attacking and combination hockey, without adapting to the rivals.

The Russian team for the tenth time became the silver medalist of the World Cup. It had four victories before and closed the top-3 nine times.
