Days of Russian cinema start on Tuesday, November 20, in the Indian city of Panaji, the website of the Ministry of Culture reports. They are included in the program of the Indian International Film Festival (IFFI-50). This year, Russia has the status of a partner country of the major film forum, which celebrates a half-century anniversary.

The Indian public will have a rare opportunity to get acquainted with the most interesting works of Russian directors. The film festival will help develop cultural ties between two countries that are rooted in the past.

Representatives of Russia will perform at the opening ceremony of the festival. Russian actors and directors, as well as Russian ambassador to India Nikolai Kudashev, are among the guests. 

Karen Oganesyan’s Hero was chosen as the opening film of the festival. The program also includes Beanpole by Kantemir Balagov, Once in Trubchevsk by Larisa Sadilova, Abigail by Alexander Boguslavsky and other features. 

Actresses Vasilisa Perelygina, Victoria Miroshnichenko, actors Fedor Lavrov, Gleb Bochkov and Petar Zekavitsa, screenwriter Nikolai Kulikov will present their works.

For the first time, Days of Russian cinema took place in India in 2015. This forum will be the fifth in a row. Within the framework of the festival, spectators will be able to meet with the leading performers and cultural figures and exchange experiences and discuss prospects for further cooperation.
