Latvian intelligence agencies have focused their attention to one more activist of the Baltic republic's Russian community, as RIA Novosti reports. Police security officers have detained Ilya Kozyrev, one of the leaders of the Headquarters of Russian schools protection. He is a co-organizer of the actions performed in the capital of Latvia against to stop closing down Russian schools.

According to the human rights activist Vladimir Linderman, a search has been arranged on his apartment. Kozyrev has refused to give any evidence. Police officers transported him under guard in a temporary detention center.

Linderman has explained that there the detainee can be up to two days only. Most likely he is going to be arrested later by a court decision.

Russian Union of Latvia party has confirmed this information. It was explained that Kozyrev was proposed as the candidate for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

As Russkiy Mir reported earlier, the Security police of Latvia has arrested the human rights activist and public figure Alexander Gaponenko. He has been detained in April and is in custody for now more than hundred days. He was brought to far-fetched charges of the activities directed against independence of the Republic of Latvia. The human rights activist can be sentenced for up to eight years of imprisonment.

Vladimir Liderman was also detained. He has spent in jail two weeks. Against the chairman of the The Russian union of Latvia party Tatyana Zhdanok several criminal cases have been opened.
