UN Secretary General meets with Vladimir Putin

Russia represents an indispensable element of establishing new multipolar world, according to Secretary General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres, who mentioned this in the course of the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin held in Moscow the day before, the official website of the Kremlin informs.

He has mentioned that Russia has a unique role to play of one of the founders of the international organization. It occupies a position of the permanent member of the UN Security Council. Gutteres has stressed out that now it is high time to develop multilateral interaction. “We cannot call it easy for the UN on the whole. After the Cold War, the world stayed unipolar for a while and the time has come to search for a new structure of multipolar world, the UN Secretary General added. He is sure that Russia plays a crucial part in this process.

“Russia is indispensable element of establishing a new, multipolar and polycentric world,” the UN Secretary General added.

Russian leader, in his turn, has said that our country maintained its position on the leading role of the UN at the international arena.
 
Vladimir Putin called this organization the only universal platform. In his words, the UN Charter is a basis for the contemporary international public right. Russian President has stressed out that the role of this organization as a universal tool for resolving crises and for prevention of complications at the international arena is unique.

Antonio Guterres came to our country yesterday, on June 20. He has already met the Head of the Russian Orthodox Church and scheduled a meeting with Foreign Minister of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov. Besides, the Secretary General of the United Nations is going to watch a football match.
