The Mariinsky Theater Orchestra under Valery Gergiev starts its Italian tour today, June 8,  in the frames of the Russian Seasons, TASS reports. Russian musicians to perform in 3 cities: Ravenna, Udine, and Milan. Russian composers pieces and the classical composers.

First stop during the tour to be conducted in Ravenna today. The program comprises Pictures at an Exhibition by Mussorgsky, Symphonic Dances by Rachmaninoff,  Afternoon of a Faun by Debussy. The next day the same program to be played in Udine. Sixth Pathetic Symphony by Tchaikovsky and Third Concert for Piano and orchestra by Rachmaninov with Italian pianist Federico Colli to be performed at the final concert in Milan.

Let us remember, The Mariinsky Theater orchestra has opened the Russian Seasons started in National Academy of St. Cecilia, Rome. Valery Gergiev as one of the most prestigious conductors on the international scene is leading the festival. Concerts, theater plays, movie screenings, Gastronomy week, and other events to take place in various parts of the country. It is expected that about 3 million people will attend the Russian culture celebration.
