Russia’s Upper House Speaker Valentina Matviyenko met an Iranian young woman named Gadirian Bakharanchi Parastu at Tauride Palace. Their acquaintance has a long history, which started more than 10 years ago, according to the website of the Federation Council. 

Valentina Matviyenko who used to hold an office of Governor of St. Petersburg visited Iran in 2004 to sign an agreement on cooperation between St. Petersburg and Isfahan. She talked to the locals too. She took picture with a little girl dressed in the national robes.

Two years ago, being the Head of the Federation Council, Matviyenko came to Iran again. During her interview the Russian politician remembered the girl and expressed wish to see her again. Father of Parastu who has already grown watched this TV interview and got in touch with the Russian diplomats.

A new meeting happened in our country half a year ago. The young lady arrived at Russia to continue her education in one of the Russian universities. Now Parastu is studying at the preparatory department of St. Petersburg Medical Institute.

Valentina Matviyenko promised to follow the student’s success in studies. In her worlds, this meeting should be called fate. Our countries have always kept friendly and collaborative relations for all of these years. “The more private contacts we have, the better it is for our states,” she is sure.

Parastu is fluent in Russia and is to pass exams soon. She is going to continue her studies to become a doctor and get a degree in genetics.
