Lavrov: history falsification became unprecedented

14.05.2018

Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation

History falsification campaign, which has been going on for several years, became lately unprecedented, Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov believes. In his opinion, the authorities in many countries resort to rewriting history books for the sake of here-and-now political profits, RIA Novosti informs.

“For the last years, we are witnessing unprecedented in its scale campaigns of politicization and rewriting the history for the sake of here-and-now political infrastructure,” diplomat remarked.

He has stated that the efforts of some political forces on the West to rewrite the history have obvious anti-Russian mood. According to Lavrov, falsification turned into the main tool of Russia’s deterrence.

Sergei Lavrov referred to the desire to distort the WW2 events as blasphemy. He is sure that intention to review results of the wars and to diminish the role of fascism defeaters are absolutely immoral.

Diplomat has reminded that Moscow has many times claimed that it will never allow any history falsifications. The same was repeated by Russian President Vladimir Putin at the Parade dedicated to the 73d Victory Anniversary, on May 9.

“Such immoral actions are evidently leading to the growth of Russophobia, aggressive nationalism and various manifestations of intolerance,” Lavrov said. He has mentioned that it ruins the international security architecture and harms the human rights protection and provision system.
