35 tons of Russian humanitarian aid goes to Mexico

27.09.2017

mchs.gov.ruThirty-five tons of humanitarian load were sent by Russian Emergencies Ministry to quake-hit Mexico, according to TASS.

Il-76 plane has already set off to Acapulco delivering food, basic essentials, clothes and tents.

The aid is rendered to Mexico in accordance with the country’s government request and order of Russian Cabinet Council.

It should be reminded that right after the information about natural disaster was received, the head of Russian Emergencies Ministry has stated that trained safeguards and all necessary equipment are ready for the trip to Mexico. They waited for the order from the local authorities.

Russian community is helping victims of the natural disaster. Many natives of the ex-Soviet Union Republics are volunteers. They gather and bring clothes, hygiene items, water, food and medical supplies and all necessary items to the drop-off centers. Some of them deliver gathered things; some organize and share the items.

As the Russkiy Mir Foundation reported earlier, the earthquake happened next to Mexican capital on September 19. Its epicenter was in the state of Morelos, twelve km away from the settlement Akhochyapan at depth of fifty-seen km. More than three hundreds of people fell victims of the earthquake.

There are no data about injures among the Russian community members, however homes of many of them were damaged.
