Russian scientists have discovered new mineral

pixabay.comRussian scientists have discovered new mineral, RIA Novosti reports. The mineral was found in Kamchatka region. It was called Nataliamalikit in honor of the researcher Natalia Malik who works in the Institute of Volcanology and Seismology Far Eastern Branch RAS.

Specialists have marked that this mineral appeared due to volcanic hills crack formations. 700 Celsius hot gases come through them. From the chemical point of view the mineral Nataliamalikit is iodide thallium. It was found during Avachinsky stratovolcano expedition.

The research on this mineral with the use of synchrotron has been made in Australian Monash University.

This discovery will help scientists to understand the process of developing iron in the deep Earth layers. According to professionals this discovery will help to gain an objective view of the processes that are in charge with geochemical evolution of our planet.
