The Memorial Cross of Grand Duke Sergey Romanov opened in Kremlin

The Kremlin held an opening ceremony of the memorial cross in commemoration of the Grand Duke Sergey Alexandrovich Romanov, where Russian President Vladimir Putin and Patriarch Kirill were present, TASS reports.

Vladimir Putin has remarked in his welcome speech that the cross will serve as a reminder to Russian nationals about the price people had to pay for mutual hatred and hostility. President addressed the ceremony participants to apply maximum efforts to keep unity and cohesion in the country.

Patriarch Kirill led the mournful service for the Grand Duke and sanctified the memorial cross. Russian Minister of Culture Vladimir Medinsky, representatives of Elizabeth-Sergiev Religious Society and senior priests of Russian Orthodox Church were present at the opening ceremony.
