Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova expressed regret about the EU solution to extend the sanctions towards some governmental companies and some citizens of Russia, TASS informs. She noted that similar counter measures of the Russian Federation would also remain in force.
She has specified that it is Ukraine’s fault that the Minsk agreements has failed to progress, so the prolongation of restrictive measures towards Russia evokes deep regret. “Russian response stop-list will also stay in force, though this is not our choice,” Maria Zakharova concluded.
Let us remind, that European Council made a decision to extend individual sanctions towards some Russian citizens for six months more. These sanctions were imposed in March 2014 for the first time. Since then they were prolonged many times under different pretexts. As of now, another date of their “expiration” is 15th of September 2017.
