Week of Russian auctions opens on Monday, June 3, in the British capital, TASS reports. Traditionally, auctions of Russian art are held in London twice a year - at the beginning of summer and at the beginning of winter. They include the four largest auction houses: Christie's, Sotheby's, MacDougall's and Bonhams. Usually revenue is tens of millions of dollars.

The masterpieces of Russian artists will be presented to Christie's buyers today, including Still Life with Lilac by Petrov-Vodkin. Its preliminary cost is almost two million dollars. Experts call it a “good price” and assume that it will be purchased for at least five million.

Another top lot will be Lying naked by Makovsky. This work was estimated at four hundred thousand dollars. Not less costs, according to preliminary estimates, Siverskaya by Shishkin and Still Life with Phloxes by Deineka.

Russkiy Mir reported that Sotheby's put for sale works by Polenov, Larionov and Kustodiev. It is expected that Still Life by Larionov will go for almost two million dollars. At Sotheby's, it was explained that the canvas had not been exposed to the general public for more than sixty years. The preliminary assessment of the Portrait of Count Alexey Pavlovich Ignatiev by Kustodiev is also very high. The picture, commissioned by Emperor Nicholas II, had to be finished by another well-known representative of the Russian art school - Ivan Repin. Estimate of the painting Oyat River by Polenov exceeds eight hundred thousand dollars.

MacDougall's and Bonhams will conclude the week of auctions on June 6. MacDougall's list of the most expensive lots is headed by the work of Kustodiev Bakhchisarai. Its estimate has passed for two million dollars. Next comes Vasnetsov's painting Young Dreams (Tsesarevich). The image of Tsarevich Dmitry was estimated at more than a million dollars. It is put up for auction for the first time. The main lot is Malyavin’s painting - Portrait of a girl in a pink dress. Bidding will begin with almost seven hundred thousand dollars.
