Moscow does not share the point of view on the incident in the Kerch Strait voiced by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, RIA Novosti reports.

The Ukrainian President announced the beginning of a "war" with Russia while commenting on the incident in the Kerch Strait to Fox News. The video of the interview was posted on Porochenko’s Facebook page, RIA Novosti reports.

“It is a Ukrainian provocation and a gross violation of Russia’s state border which entailed the consequences for violators and the violating party,” Peskov said.

According to him, Kiev acts this way because of the upcoming presidential elections.

“We clearly see the continuation of the election campaign in Ukraine and the use of the enemy image of Russia to achieve electoral goals,” Peskov added.
