The model of the new Russian orbital station was demonstrated for the first time on Monday, August 15, TASS reports. It was presented by Roscosmos at the Army-2022 forum.

According to the preliminary plan, the deployment of the station will take place in two stages. At stage 1, four modules will be built: scientific and energy, basic, nodal and gateway. Two crew members can work in them.

At stage 2, the station will be supplemented with target and production modules, as well as a service platform. The crew will be increased to four people, the space for installing scientific equipment will more than double.

Russia intends to leave the international space station project in two years. According to the head of Roscosmos Yuri Borisov, Moscow will definitely fulfill all its obligations before that time. Then Russia will start building its own orbital station.

Borisov called the creation of the Russian Orbital Service Station (ROSS) the main task of Roscosmos in the field of manned cosmonautics.
