The Latvian authorities intend to restrict entry into the country for Russians with Schengen visas, said Prime Minister Krisjanis Karins. People with Russian passports won't be able to renew their residence permits as well, RIA Novosti writes.

According to the Prime Minister, a corresponding agreement has been reached in the government. Now it is up to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, which should provide amendments for the bill.

Earlier, Estonia decided to deny entry to Russian citizens with Schengen visas into the country. The same initiative is being discussed in the European Union - Germany confirmed that this measure might be included in a new package of anti-Russian sanctions.

Dmitry Medvedev, deputy head of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, is sure that this step is akin to Hitler's ideas. The leader of German Nazism was the last to distinguish himself with such hatred for the whole people, the politician recalled.
