Russian experts presented a new test system for the diagnosis of the coronavirus infection, RIA Novosti reports. It was developed at the Central Research Institute of Epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor. The test is highly accurate and does not give a false positive reaction.

The department said that clinical trials have already been completed. Five days ago, the test was registered in the Russian Federation.

The new test fully meets all modern requirements for sensitivity and specificity. It can detect in one study not only SARS-CoV-2, but also distinguish it from other similar viruses, as well as from MERS-Cov (Middle East respiratory syndrome).

Earlier, new test systems for detecting the coronavirus infection began to be tested in the Murmansk region. A pilot batch of tests, jointly prepared by experts from Russia and Japan, has already been delivered to Apatity and Kirovsk. According to experts, these tests are the most accurate. In addition, they work faster than anything else: it takes only thirty minutes to find out the result.
