The Immortal Regiment action, which is conducted by compatriots living in Lebanon, can take place online this year, RIA Novosti reports. According to the head of the Rossotrudnichestvo representative office in Beirut, Vadim Zaychikov, this issue is now being discussed. This step is necessary, he explained, due to the ban on mass events and other measures aimed at preventing the spread of the coronavirus infection.

In Lebanon, they were preparing to conduct more than 50 different events dedicated to the anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The Immortal Regiment procession in the Lebanese capital was supposed to become the largest one.

Quarantine restrictions allowed the Russian-Lebanese families to once again recall family stories, to tell their great-grandchildren about the war heroes. They make photos together with portraits of heroic grandfathers and great-grandfathers and upload pictures to social networks, thus joining the million-strong “immortal regiment”.

The Russian community expressed the hope that, despite quarantine around the world, the action may become one of the most popular on the Internet.
