Foreign tourists most often chose Moscow during their journeys to Russia in autumn, RIA Novosti reports. St. Petersburg was second most popular choice, as the results of a study compiled by the specialists of Maps.Me service show. The rating is based on the number of users from abroad who downloaded maps of Russian regions.

Kaliningrad, which is the westernmost Russian region, took the third place of this rating. Buryatia and the Irkutsk region occupied fourth and fifth places, respectively. The two regions switched places in comparison with the summer rating.

In autumn, foreign tourists have significantly increased interest in Primorye. From the twelfth position, Primorsky Krai immediately moved to the sixth. Adygea still occupies the seventh line.

Tyva, Krasnoyarsk and Krasnodar Territories are also in the top ten. Foreigners were interested in such regions as the Republic of Tatarstan, Smolensk and Vladimir Regions, the Republic of Bashkortostan, Chelyabinsk, Nizhny Novgorod, Novosibirsk and Tver Regions, the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic and the Rostov Region.
