The students of St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) took the first place at the International University eSports Competition (WCAA-2020) in China. Twenty teams from Russia, China, India, Canada and Malaysia competed in the popular computer games Dota 2 and PUBG Mobile, TASS reports.

The SPbPU team included seven players, who won the monetary prize of 150 thousand yuan ($ 21,6 thousand). The Russians have proven their skills in all disciplines of the competition. Russia is one of the leading countries in the development of e-sports, which was officially recognized as a sport in the country almost twenty years ago.

Russian schoolchildren and students often become winners of tournaments and contests in disciplines based on modern technologies. Last November, Russian schoolchildren and students won the team competition at the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) in Györ, Hungary. The team consisted of students from different cities from Moscow to Vladivostok.
