Russian figure skaters lead after short program of European Championship

Russian figure skating duet Alexandra Boykova and Dmitry Kozlovsky were the first in the short program of the European Figure Skating Championship, which opened in Graz (Austria). The Russians took the lead with a world record, TASS reported. Two Russians sportsmen were in the top three in the men's competition, according to the results of the short program.

The judges gave Boykova and Kozlovsky 82.34 points, which is more than one point higher than the last world record shown by the Chinese duet. The season is going very well for the for the two of them, as the Russians won both the Russian and Canadian stages of Grand Prix.

After the first half of the competition, Russian duets conquered the entire top three, as Daria Pavlyuchenko and Denis Khodykin, as well as Evgenia Tarasova and Vladimir Morozov also received high scores from the jury. The final competition of the free program will be held on Friday, December 24, the day before the end of the European Championship.

The championship was successfully started by Russian single skaters, two of them continue to compete for the gold. According to the results of the first day, Dmitry Aliyev came second, losing more than one point to an experienced Czech Michal Březina. The 16-year-old debutant of competitions of Arthur Danielyan takes an intermediate third place.
