ROCOR celebrates its centenary in 2020

The Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia (ROCOR) is preparing to celebrate its 100th anniversary. The program will include presentations of scientific and educational publications, an icon-painting contest, conferences, congresses and pilgrimages. Preparations for the anniversary celebrations were discussed in New York by participants in a meeting of the ROCOR Synod of Bishops, the Moscow House of the Compatriot reports.

The meeting, held by Metropolitan Hilarion of East America and New York, was attended by the heads and representatives of the ROCOR dioceses from North America, Europe and Australia.

One of the largest events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the ROCOR will be the anniversary Council of Bishops, which will be held in 2020 at the convent of the Martyr Grand Duchess Elizaveta Feodorovna in Buchendorf (Bavaria).

In October next year, celebrations are scheduled in the New York Holy Trinity Monastery, the church-historical conference was included in the program. New information about the history of ROCOR will be presented in two editions, which are being prepared for release in 2020 and 2021.

Pilgrimages of clergy and believers to the holy places of Serbia related to the history of the ROCOR will be timed to the big anniversary.
