There are no prospects for territorial claims against Russia by Estonian politicians, RIA Novosti reports. Earlier, the speaker of the Estonian parliament Henn Põlluaas demanded that five percent of the territory allegedly annexed by Moscow be returned to the Baltic republic.

The Kremlin considered the statements by the Estonian politician “unacceptable,” Russian president’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

According to Russian senator Andrey Klimov, these statements are speculations about nothing. Nevertheless, they are clearly russophobic in nature. The member of the Federation Council recalled that the requirements had no legal force. He also emphasized that Russia has no border disputes in this part of the world.

Andrey Morozov, who is a deputy in the lower house of parliament, has called on the Estonian authorities to abandon the unconstructive approach to building relations with Moscow.

Estonian territorial claims against Russia are considered baseless by the scientific director of the Russian Military Historical Society Mikhail Myagkov. He recalled that Estonia would not be admitted to NATO if it had any cross-border disputes and problems.

Põlluaas’s words are speculation and an element of the internal political struggle, the head of the Russian Association for Baltic Studies Nikolai Mezhevich said. According to him, the issue of territorial disputes with Estonia was actually closed in the 1990s, when delegations of the two countries stopped discussing it at state negotiations.
