Russian folklore presented in Houston

Fifth Russian festival took place in Houston. Adult and children ensembles representing Russian compatriots' organizations performed at the stage of the biggest Texas city. Culinary and artisan markets took place in the frames of the festival, Russian America newspaper reported.

4 years ago Russian folk dance ensemble Uzoru (Ornaments) and Russian Folk Choir Sudarushka started to perform at the first festival. Since then these two participating regulaarly in the event.

Performance of the most popular Russian-speaking ensembles of the city and the state were included into the program. Folk and music ensembles, rock groups, choirs and dance groups, puppet theater  were in the program. 

Zavicaj Serbian Folk ensemble was a special guest of the festival. Traditional Russian characters from fairy tales such as Petrushka went out to greet guests of the street fair were local artisans were selling national gifts, and Russian chefs were selling traditional Russian dishes such as borscht, crepes and sweets.
