The Geographical Dictation online was written by 101,451 participants from 110 countries in 2019. The dictation, which took place at the end of October at 5831 full-time venues, was organized by the Russian Geographical Society (RGS). Online participants had the opportunity to test their knowledge of countries, seas and the structure of the world for five days, according to the website of the RGS.
This year, the number of online participants in the dictation has slightly decreased in comparison with 2018. The organizers attribute this to the increase in participants who chose full-time venues, the number of which increased. Universities, schools and other institutions in all regions of Russia and 109 countries of the world opened the doors for the Geographical Dictation.
The total number of participants and the results of the Geographical Dictation for full-time students will be announced on November 29. During the test, participants answered 40 questions, each correct answer was awarded one point.
The famous Russians, including the Minister of Defense and the president of the RGS Sergei Shoigu, became participants in the Geographical Dictation.
