Three Russian universities have topped the ranking of leading universities in Eastern Europe and Central Asia, compiled by the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS). Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU) was in first place, St. Petersburg State University (SPbU) and Novosibirsk State University (NSU) are also in the top three, TASS reports.

In total, 350 universities were included in the rating, almost a third of them are Russian. The inclusion of 105 Russian universities in the prestigious list, according to experts, testifies to the leadership of Russian higher education in a large region.

More than ten leading universities of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan and Yekaterinburg were in the top 50.

Twenty three universities from Russia were in the top 100. The number has grown significantly in comparison with the period of three years ago, when only 14 Russian universities made to the top 100. According to the Minister of Science and Higher Education of Russia Mikhail Kotyukov, the development of the export of educational services will continue in the country. The combination of the latest educational technologies and the best experience of Russian pedagogy will help to achieve high performance in this direction.

Moscow State University traditionally shows the best results among Russian universities in international rankings. Russkiy Mir reported that in early October, the capital's university was in the top 100 universities in the world for the teaching of art and the humanities.
