Children orphanage choir from Russia performs in Germany

Children choir Otrada (The Joy) of the orphanage at the St. Nicholas Chernoostrovsky Women's Monastery (Kaluga oblast) performed in Hamburg. Classical choral works, folk songs, liturgical chants and compositions based on Russian poems were in the program. 

The orphanage was founded at the St. Nicholas Chernoostrovsky Convent in 1994 году with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Alexiy II. With the will to support personal grown for talented students, the monastery administration has opened choir and choreographic corses.  Otrada choir successfully tours in Russia and Europe, the kids participate in festivals and concerts abroad and has already received several awards. 

This performans was held in the frames of Russian Seasons in Germania. The project is realised by the Russian Ministry of Culture, Foreign Ministry, and Russian Orthodox Church.
