Russia is very grateful to Beijing for its careful attitude to the preservation of historical and cultural monuments related to our country, which are located in China. This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister Tatyana Golikova, who was speaking at the meeting of the bilateral commission for cooperation in the humanitarian field, RIA Novosti reported.

The Russian Deputy Prime Minister recalled that the repair of the Intercession Church in Harbin was completed, restoration work is continuing in the church of Hagia Sophia. It was also made possible to preserve the historical appearance of the Iveron Church; crosses have recently been erected on it.

Golikova expressed hope that other objects of the Russian cultural heritage would remain in the sphere of interests of the Chinese authorities.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry, in turn, praised the statements of Sergey Lavrov, who positively evaluated the close interaction and active cooperation of the two countries. The representative of the Chinese Foreign Ministry Hua Chunying agreed that any attempts to drive a wedge between Russia and China were doomed to fail. She noted that the relations between the two countries could be considered an example of interaction between the two major powers, they were not directed against third countries. The parties choose dialogue rather than confrontation, partnership instead of alliances.
