Russian cinema festival in Munich launches

Brief Encounters Russian cinema festival in Munich presents features of renown Russian and Soviet directors.  Vsevolod Pudovkin, Mikhail Romm, Mikhail Kalatozov films to be shon at the Munich Film Archive Museum from 13.09 to 17.12. The film festival is conducted in the frames of the Russian Seasons, Russian Culture Ministry website informs.

15 features are included in the festival. Among them are both world-famous movies such as The Cranes Are Flying, and lost in oblivion, underappreciated works. Audience will be able to see what kind of reciprocal influence Russian and German cinematographes have experienced. 

The festival will open with 10-films cycle Soviet Expressionism. Screened films will demontìstrate the connection with German  Expressionists. Films created from 1920s to  1970s are going to be shown.    

The second part of the festival's program invite viewers to see Unknown Russian Classics program, which includes frilms of Kira Muratova, Andrey Smirnov and Georgy Danelia.
