The solemn ceremony of launching the construction of the cableway took place in the middle of Amur River, which separates Russian Blagoveshchensk and Chinese Heihe, Vesti TV channel reports.

The new cableway will be the first cableway in the world to connect the two countries. This project can be called unique; its analogues do not exist. Today, buses and ships go between the Amur Region and Heilongjiang Province, but in the very near future it will be much easier to cross Amur River. This will contribute to the new road bridge and cableway.

The funicular will become an additional incentive to enhance cooperation between the regions, which, in turn, will allow intensifying cooperation in the economy, the Governor of Russian region Vasily Orlov is sure. He promised to render all assistance to the project. According to him, about a hundred thousand Chinese tourists visited the Amur Region last year. Now the flow of tourists in both directions will increase, Orlov does not doubt. Heilongjiang provincial government representative Li Haitao agrees with this opinion.

Concrete platforms are already constructed on Russian and Chinese shores, where international terminals will be located.

The length of the future cableway will be about a kilometer. Cabins passing over the river will hold up to sixty people, and the interval between passages will not exceed 15 minutes. Up to seven thousand tourists will cross the border every day. Commissioning of the cableway is scheduled for 2022.
