Washington is arranging a hunt for Russian citizens in third countries trying to put pressure on Moscow, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is sure. According to him, the US authorities do not want to cooperate with Russian law enforcement agencies, the website of the Foreign Ministry reports. He recalled that the countries concluded an agreement on mutual legal assistance.

The United States is also putting pressure on other countries, seeking that they detain Russians on their territory and pass them overseas. And they act on the sly, often not having any evidence. Direct abductions have also occurred - as in the cases of Konstantin Yaroshenko in Liberia and Roman Seleznyov on Maldives.

Head of Russian diplomacy assured that Russians are not left in the lurch. Foreign Ministry monitors every such case, and Moscow is increasing the effectiveness of the legal protection of our citizens abroad. Diplomats provide detainees with 24-hour consular and legal assistance. They seek to facilitate their conditions of detention and the early return to their homeland.

Sergey Lavrov recalled that Russia puts this question on all international platforms at the highest level.

Nevertheless, he is confident that Russian authorities will not be able to fully guarantee the safety of Russians abroad, since the American system is acting extremely aggressively using unlawful methods. The Minister advised Russian citizens to think carefully about their trips abroad, especially where extradition treaties with the United States apply.
