Italian Liguria and French Cote d'Azur hosted Tchaikovsky Imperial Festival, Roosiyskaya Gazeta reported.

Cultural event took place for the 9th time, and not by occasion. It is documented that Tchaikovsky wrote his masterpieces, such as Evgeny Onegin opera and the Forth Symphony in Sanremo City, Liguria.

The head of the Classika orchestra Alexander Kantorov has initiated the festival 8 years ago, with a help of local authorities and the Russian Consulate in Genova.

Throughout its history, the festival has received a great attendance and success among locals and tourists.

This year the Classika Orchestra together with young soloists and dancers from Italy and Russia presented not anly Tchaikovsky music, but also Glinka, Shostakovich and Sviridov.

Alexander Kantorov was earlier granted with the Honoured Friend of Sanremo title. This year he received the same title from municipality of Pieve di Teco.
