Foreign visitors to European Games in Minsk can travel to Russia without visa

22.06.2019

Citizens of foreign countries who came to Minsk for the Second European Games without a visa can visit Russia, also taking advantage of the visa-free regime, TASS reports.

According to Sergey Prikhodko, deputy chief of staff of the Russian Government, foreigners can enter, leave, stay and follow the transit through the territory of the Russian Federation. They need to have an identity document and a document for visiting the tournament in order to do that. It is for the participants to have the accreditation for the show. The fans should have a ticket, in paper or electronic version. They are eligible to cross the border by plane and road.

Note that the intergovernmental agreement concerning the procedure for entering the country to attend sports events was concluded with Minsk before the World Football Championship last year. It presupposes a special procedure for the entry of fans to attend a football tournament, as well as the Second European Games.

Foreigners and stateless persons may enter the territory of one country in transit through the territory of another without the need to obtain visas. Foreign football fans from traveled to Russia through Belarusian territory with the help of a “fan passport”. Foreigners will also have the opportunity to get to Belarus through the Russian territory to participate in the European Games.

Under the agreement, Moscow and Minsk interact to ensure the security of competitions and to prevent threats to the national and public security of both countries.

The European Games opened on Friday, June 21, in Minsk.
