The winners of the spring stage of the Tournament of Towns (International mathematical Olympiad) have received awards during the solemn ceremony in London, Rossotrudnichestvo website reports.

The International Mathematics Olympiad was first held in our country in 1980. Now, pupils from hundreds of different cities are participating in the tournament. The list of participants includes more than twenty-five different countries - from Europe and the United States to Australia and Oceania.

London hosted the competition of young mathematicians for the fifth time in a row. The Olympiad was organized by the Russian School of Mathematics and Programming. The talented scientist from Hungary Andras Hrasko checked the works of the participants. He taught to 25 winners of the International Mathematical Olympiad and many other talented children.

Before the award ceremony the school students had a special lesson. Hrasko explained to them how to solve the most interesting tasks of the Olympiad.

The goal of the tournament is to identify talented and mathematically gifted children. But, unlike most mathematical olympiads, it motivates participants to in-depth work on the task and the development of qualities required in research work.
