More than half of Ukrainians who became participants in the Gallup International sociological poll said that they share a common history, Soviet past and family ties with Russians. Most respondents in Russia answered the same, but there are discrepancies in percentages that show that the above-mentioned priorities are more important for Ukrainians than for Russians, SM-news reports.

Almost half of the polled Ukrainians believe that the two nations are united by cultural traditions. Every third Russian participant of the survey chose this option. A third of Ukrainians and a quarter of polled Russians are convinced that Russian language binds them to neighbouring kindred people.

According to М of Gallup International Andrei Milekhin, the results of the survey show that the negative background in media and other factors aimed at separating and embroiling Russians and Ukrainians did not make the people enemies. Moreover, the survey showed that they continue to treat each other positively.

Representatives of Gallup International association of independent research agencies conducted the surveys.
