Movie about modern Russian army to be filmed in Palmyra

The movie, dedicated to the liberation of ancient city of Palmyra in Syria, will be filmed by Alexei Uchitel’s ROCK studio, Rossiyskaya Gazeta writes. Project of the movie was presented in Cinema Foundation of Russia.

According to Alexei Uchitel, the movie is telling about modern Russian army. Screenwriter Arif Aliyev was the author of the idea, which was supported by Russian Minister of Defense Sergey Shoygu.

Much work has already been done. Alexey Uchitel is sure that the movie will be successful both in artistic and financial terms.

The director of the movie is Rustam Mosafir, the operator is Yuri Klimenko. Aglaya Tarasova and Rinal Mukhametov played the leading roles.

The film crew will work in Palmyra, nearby Astrakhan and on Crimean peninsula. The movie will also include a performance of the Mariinsky Theater Orchestra conducted by maestro Gergiev in Palmyra.

The screenwriter visited Syria to prepare for work on the film. The trip was organized by Ministry of Defense. He noted that he was able to communicate with the people who are now working on demining of Palmyra. Before that, a lot of work was done in the anti-mine center in Nakhabino.

The film will show military action. Ministry of Defense will provide equipment, mobility and protection to moviemakers.
