Russia has always been and will remain a sovereign state, President Vladimir Putin is sure. In his opinion, some countries may turn into non-sovereign, while Russia may not. He said this during his speech with a message to Federal Assembly, Kremlin’s website reports.

Head of the state noted that confidence-building and expanding cooperation in various fields remain priorities in Russia's foreign policy activities.

Russian leader focused on the question of the INF Treaty in his speech. He recalled that the treaty between Moscow and Washington was signed many years ago, and the world has undergone significant changes since then. Today, many countries are working to create such weapons, and only Moscow and Washington can not do this. The President of Russia is convinced that the USA should have said this not making up reasons for rejecting the contract.

The USA first violated the INF Treaty, and then generally withdrew from the treaty instead of acting honestly.

The United States, in violation of the INF Treaty, installed launchers in the European territory that are capable of lifting Tomahawks into the air.

Nevertheless, Moscow is not going to be the first to deploy missiles in Europe, Vladimir Putin emphasized. However, if the United States does this, then the missiles will turn into a threat to our country, and this means that they will greatly complicate the situation.

Mirror actions will be Moscow’s answer to such steps. No one doubts that the answer will be very effective.

At the same time, Moscow has never sought and does not seek confrontation. President stressed that Russia does not threaten anyone, and wants friendly relations with the United States. But they can only begin after the US authorities realize that Russia is an equal partner. We are ready for dialogue, but we are no longer going to knock on closed doors, President emphasized.

Russia needs peace for sustainable development. Russia is developing the military-industrial complex and weapons so that no one dares to put pressure on the country.

It is necessary to preserve Russia as a civilization based on centuries-old traditions and values. President is convinced that it is necessary to unite and consciously make a choice in favor of a solidarity mood for the development of the country.
