Roscosmos is embarking on a new project for space tourists, RBC reports.

According to the Head of the corporation Dmitry Rogozin, tourists will have an opportunity to make a flight along the same route as the first cosmonaut of the planet did.

He explained that Gagarin’s route is shorter, and this will make it possible to reduce the period of preparation for the flight for those who want to see Earth from cosmic heights.

The details of new program have not been disclosed yet, as well as the deadlines of the project. Dmitry Rogozin called flights on the route of Yuri Gagarin a good item for tourists.

Roscosmos has entered into a contract with Space Adventures from the United States. It is assumed that two non-professional astronauts will fly to the ISS within three years. They will go on the same ship.

Head of Roscosmos added that this is the first contract for the flight of non-professional astronauts over the past decade. There were no space tourists aboard the International Space Station during this time.
