Famous Russian composer Vladimir Dashkevich celebrated 85th anniversary, TV Channel Kultura reports.  Dashkevich is known as a film composer who wrote music for famous Soviet features such a Sherlock Holmes, Heart of a Dog, Winter Cherry, et cetera.

Apart of film music the composer wrote many symphonic and chamber music works. Now he's working on the opera named Twelve based on the namesake poem of Alexander Block.

Vladimir Dashkevich is a student of Soviet Russian composer Aram Khachaturian, who brought best Russian composing traditions through the second half of 20th century up to our days. Dashkevich loves philosophy and chess and believes that music is one of the global evolution models.

The head of the Russian government Dmitry Medvedev warmly congratulated Vladimir Dashkevich, underlining that films that we love for so many years are not possible to imagine without his soundtracks.
