Emir Kusturica shared opinion with Vladimir Putin in Serbia

Famous Serbian filmmaker and musician Emir Kusturica highly values an opportunity to tell Russian President about his cultural activities. According to filmmaker, it aims to strengthen relations between the two countries, Zvezda TV channel reports.

He added that he shared his thoughts about independent and neutral Serbia with Vladimir Putin. Emir Kusturica expressed the hope that this situation will remain unchanged. He also expressed concern about the position of Serbians in Republika Srpska. Kusturica is convinced that its local politicians hinder their free relations with Russia. He emphasized that he would like to express his sympathy to the work of Russia and Russian President.

Emir Kusturica met Vladimir Putin in an informal setting during Russian leader’s visit to Belgrade.

As Russian Mir informed, Russian President visited Serbia on January 17. He had negotiations with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. They discussed bilateral relations in the spheres of economy and trade, energy and culture. 

It should be noted that Emir Kusturica loves Russian culture a lot. He has read the works of Chekhov, Bulgakov, Dostoevsky and other classic Russian writers. He has watched the films of Eisenstein, Tarkovsky, Mikhalkov, Konchalovsky and other film directors, who paid attention to the inner world of human. He highlights Zakhar Prilepin among modern authors.
