All-Russian Theater Marathon starts in Vladivostok

The major cultural event of the Year of the Theater - The Theater Marathon, will start in Vladivostok on January 18, Ministry of Culture website reports.  

The Sleeping Beauty ballet by P. Tchaikovsky to be premiered during the opening ceremony evening at the Primorskaya Stageof Mariinsky Theater in Vladivostok. 

The event is unique since it lasts all the years, and theaters from all the regions of Russia take part in it. Within the marathon, theaters are going to travel from region to region and pass the relay baton to local troupes. Eight Russian cities are also going to host forums on the future of the Russian theater.

Primorsky Drama Theater will go on tour to Khabarovsk. The spectators from Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, in their turn, already wait for the Khabarovsk Musical Theater. The marathon is going to conclude in Kaliningrad at the end of 2019. 

Among the important events of the marathon are eight forums of the Theatre Union of the Russian Federation, which are going to take place in different parts of the country. Theater directors, conductors, critics, actors, theater leaders are going to participate in it. They will discuss the future of Russian theater. Training seminars and laboratories are also to be held within the framework of the forums. 

Theater Olympiad is to become another significant event in the frames of the Theater Olympiad. 30 productions to be presented by 50 theaters in the second half of the year. In all there will be about 2,500 events all around Russia in the frames of the Year of the Theater.
