The past weekend was a great success for Russian male and female biathletes.

Russian men's biathlon team won 4x7.5 km relay competition at the IBU World Cup in Oberhof, Germany on January 13, RIA Novosti informs. Maxim Tsvetkov, Evgeniy Garanichev, Dmitry Malyshko and Alexander Loginov won despite six misses. French team took the second place, and Austrian team was number three. This victory is very important for Russian biathletes, because the men’s team did not win relays since the beginning of 2017.

Russian women’s team was celebrating its triumph even earlier. Evgeniya Pavlova, Margarita Vasileva, Larisa Kuklina and Ekaterina Yurlova-Percht won gold in 4x6 km relay competition. It is the first victory of women’s team since 2012. Team of Germany is in second place, and Czech team is the third.

The leader of Russian men's team Alexandr Loginov also grabbed gold шт a sprint that took place in Oberhof on Friday. Experts shared the opinion that Russia has managed to overcome the biathlon crisis, and called the Oberhof victories a breakthrough.
